Can I return a defective console to GameStop? ›

Defective merchandise (other than PCs, and their components and accessories, laptops, TVs and monitors) can be exchanged within the return window for an identical replacement.

We value our customers and are committed to providing quality support when things do not go as planned. You have fifteen (15) days from your in-store purchase or receipt of shipment of a new item, and seven (7) days for a used item, to exchange or return, unless noted in our exceptions.

When your product arrives and is available for pickup, you will be called by the store at the phone number you provided when you placed your order. Depending on your Edge membership status, new releases not picked up within 48 hours may not be available due to the high demand.

Returned product(s) must be in the original packaging and include any manuals, cabling and accessories in saleable condition. We reserve the right to limit returns to unopened or defective products. Defective product(s) belonging to eligible categories will be replaced with a like item, upon return.

You must visit playstation.com/service or call 1-800-345-7669 to receive a return authorization and shipping instructions. A VALID PROOF OF PURCHASE IN THE FORM OF A BILL OF SALE OR RECEIPT FROM A RETAILER WITH THE DATE OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE MUST BE PRESENTED TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE.

We are not a rental service, just because we have a 7 day return policy on preowned does not mean you can buy a game, return it for another after 7 days, and keep going.

You can also talk to a store associate about redeeming points at checkout when at a GameStop store. You can redeem points for many things, including redeeming as little as 1,000 points for a $1 Reward Certificate. You can even redeem your points in-store towards another year of Pro membership!

Why does GameStop need ID for trade in? ›

Because GameStop is a pawn shop. In many states if you trade or sell over a certain value it is required by law to present photo ID or possibly fingerprints for verification and fraud portection. It's not the company or store dictating this.

Only the person who placed the pre-order can pick it up. Valid I.D. is required for pick up.

When you preorder a game from GameStop, what do you all need when you go into pick it up? Your ID, a smile, and the rest of the money you put down on it! The ID is to simply match that the person that Pre-Ordered it is the same person that is picking it up.
